GJ Cahill, through its wholly owned subsidiary, North Eastern Constructors Limited (NECL) was awarded the fabrication of the subsea manifolds for the North Amethyst offshore oil development, operated by Husky Energy. North Amethyst will be tied-in to the existing White Rose oil field, 350 kilometres offshore Newfoundland through a series of subsea equipment and flowlines. It represents the first subsea tieback project in the region.
Under NECL's direction the components of the subsea structures were primarily fabricated at Cahill's Pipe Shop in St. John's and at Metal World's fabrication yard in Torbay. The components were then transported to the Bull Arm Facility for painting, final assembly, outfitting and testing prior to offshore installation.
Unique project features: This project involved appriximately 900 piping welds, duplex and super duplex piping and low temperature carbon steel
